Deborah (DJ) Kaley, RN, MSN, AE-C, CCRC
Biography DJ Kaley, RN, MSN, AE-C, a Missouri native, began her career in 1976 working as a staff nurse caring for children with CF, BPD and asthma at St. Louis Children's Hospital. In 1982 she relocated to Los Angeles where she worked as a staff nurse caring for children with CF, asthma, sickle cell and cancer at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). In 1986 she transfered to the CF Center as the Nurse Coordinator which eventually evolved into the Case Manager for CF, Asthma and BPD, where she remained until Jan 2003. DJ had always dreamed of moving to the Bay Area but did not want to give up working with CF. In Feb 2003, she joined BAPP as the Pulmonary Nurse Case Manager. In June of 2003 she passed the certifaction exam for Asthma Educators. DJ is a member of many professional medical and nursing organizations. She has presented her research in CF at several national conferences. Shortly after moving to the Bay Area, DJ's mother, who is now in her 90's, moved from Missouri to live with DJ and assists DJ by watching after her 2 Russian Blue cats while DJ is working. Both DJ and her Mom enjoy babysitting DJ's "adopted" grandson "Bubba" on weekends. Many of you will get to see "Bubba" at various CF and BAPP events. DJ says "As case manager and triage nurse, I am happy to talk with patients and families who have questions about their lung health, treatment plan and long term health goals. I am also available to assist you in meeting your home care needs, whether that be ordering equipment to replace a broken unit, obtaining monthly supplies for your equipment, refills on medications or convincing your insurance company to pay for any of the above" |
