Manisha Newaskar, MD

Biography

Dr. Manisha Newaskar was raised in India and attended Medical School at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, located in Indore, India. She immigrated to the United States of America in 1999. She initially worked at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Pulmonary division as a research assistant in a cystic fibrosis research study while preparing for pediatric residency exams and interviews.

In 2004, she completed her Pediatric residency at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi and is a board certified pediatrician. She then completed a 3 year pulmonary fellowship at Children's Hospital Oakland in 2007 and joined Bay Area Pediatric Pulmonary Medical Corporation as a pediatric pulmonologist. She is a board certified pediatric pulmonologist.

Dr. Newaskar likes working with children with complex medical problems. She has special interest in pulmonary disease associated with sickle cell disease and is a principal investigator in an ongoing sickle cell research study. She wrote a review article “Asthma in sickle cell disease” which was recently published. Her other professional interests include asthma, pulmonary hemorrhage syndromes and childhood interstitial lung disease.

Dr. Newaskar is married and has 2 boys. She enjoys listening to music and trying different types of cuisine. She also enjoys gardening in her spare time.
