Respiratory Therapists

Our respiratory therapists are all very experienced. Each, for more than 20 years, has been working to help teach children and families how to clear airways of mucus, use equipment to delivery aerosols, learn the maneuvers and cooperate for lung function testing and help to prepare patients for sleep studies. They test infants and children as a specialty - this is all they do. They are often able to get good information from testing youngsters that many would not even attempt.

They have years of knowledge about living with many pulmonary diseases and can often give management hints to families that really make a difference. Be sure to ask them your questions.

Lorraine Anderson, RT

Lorraine has been working with children at CPMC since 1989. She has risen into administration as well as testing and now supervises the pulmonary function laboratory for CPMC, both children and adults. She loves the pediatric portion of her job the most and is happy to help you and your children learn how to "blow into the machines and master the manuevers."

Isabelo Elisan, RCP, RPFT

Isabelo Elisan has worked as a Pediatric Respiratory Practitioner specializing in Pulmonary Function at Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland since 1980. Isabelo says, "I love what I do here and truly enjoy working with the children."

Cheryl Johnson, RPFT

Cheryl Johnson has worked in the Pulmonary Function Lab at Children's Hospital Oakland since 1994. Cheryl says, "Many years ago, 14 to be exact, when I began work at Children's Hospital Oakland, it was evident that people who work at CHO truly care about children and their health, and that is why I am still here doing what I do in the Pulmonary Function Lab. "

Chris Chaney, RPFT

Chris Chaney has been a Respiratory Care Practitioner specializing in pulmonary diagnostics for over 30 years. In 1978 as a student, Chris did a clinical rotation at Children's Hospital Oakland and was hooked. "I realized that this is the place I was going to work," says Chris. "However, the opportunity never presented itself until 2009!"

Prior to joining the Children's Hospital staff Chris managed several Respiratory Therapy departments in northern California and operated a physician-based pulmonary laboratory in the Bay Area.
